Sean is a highly regarded investment funds lawyer and corporate adviser with over 25 years’ international experience advising leading fund managers, investment banks, and financial institutions across Australia, the USA, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. He brings unmatched expertise in fund formation, regulation, and ongoing operations spanning hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, UCITS, and digital asset funds across the Cayman Islands, Channel Islands, Delaware, Ireland, Luxembourg, the UK, and the UAE.
Sean has held equity partnership positions at internationally recognised law firms, including MJ Hudson — where he was part of the partnership team that took the firm public on AIM in December 2019 — Harney Westwood & Riegels LLP (Head of Cayman Islands Desk, London/EMEA) and senior associate roles at Maples & Calder, and Carey Olsen. Before joining Argentum Law, he also served as Senior Consultant to Shakespeare Martineau LLP one of the UK’s Top 50 law firms, helping build their national investment funds practices.
Throughout his career Sean has counselled fund managers, institutional investors, and digital asset managers on fund formation, regulatory compliance, governance, and operational matters. He has held executive positions on the Compliance and Investment Committees of several funds and served as a Director on the boards of hedge funds and investment companies. He is consistently recognised in the Legal 500, Chambers, and the Who’s Who Legal Private Funds Formation, published in Finance Dublin and Euromoney, and quoted in the Wall Street Journal.
