Maheen is dual qualified in the UK and Pakistan. Her previous roles include practicing in the legal department at Tameer Holding Investment of the Al Rajhi Group in Dubai, as well as private practice at RIAA Barker Gillette and Chima & Ibrahim in Pakistan. She began her career in the Legal Division at Goldman Sachs in New York.

Selected representative roles and matters:

  • Leading Pepsi Cola International’s exclusive supply agreement exemptions process with the Competition Commission of Pakistan.
  • Leading procurement of competition clearances for the Pakistan pieces of major international mergers and acquisitions, most recently for KKR and Co. L.P.’s acquisition of Unilever’s Baking, Cooking and Spreads business, KKR’s acquisition of BMC Software Inc and KKR’s joint buyout of LCY Chemical Corp.
  • Assisting PMCL (Veon and Global Telecom Holding/Orascom) in its merger with Warid Telecom (Dhabi Group) with combined revenue of $1.4B.
  • Representing lenders in project-financed development of 1200MW RLNG power plant; responsibilities included review and negotiation of EPC, GSA, PPA and IA contracts, drafting of security documents, direct agreements and finance documents.
  • Advising in pre-contentious dispute resolution in the areas of procurement and delays in EPC contract performance.
